Looking at trading my quad for this. Said it runs good and just never gets to ride it and he prefers his stand up. Was asking. 2500 for my quad so decent swap??

That's an HX. It's basically a stand-up with a seat. It was designed to race with the Yamaha Wave Blaster, and the Kawi X2.

It is a single person ski... and it's dang near impossible to just sit on it in the water. (it will fall over) It's a very small ski.

They are fun... but it's not worth $2500. I see them go for $1500 or less all the time. Also... for the "Trade"... are you getting a trailer? I'm only asking becasue it's on a double trailer now. Without a trailer it's worth $1k.

Yes I will be getting the trailer also I believe. At least I will try my best. If not then I won't go for it. I will still get my XP fixed so that will give me two jetskis includin our ultra 250x so 3 including that one.

Well I went ahead and got the ski. I didn't get the trailer pictured but I did get one. Its still a double trailer but not sure that my other XP will fit or not. Just have to see. Ski itself looks VERY GOOD. I am friends with the guy I got it from so I trust him and he just went through the whole motor with a new crank, pistons, etc. Starts right up no problems.

Now just to get my XP motor built....

OK.......

The double trailer will bring the price up, since they are normally sought after.

Without a doubt... the ski looks great. I just wanted to let you know how they are.

Oh yeah I appreciate it Dr Honda. I've had the quad for about a year and a Half and ive only rode it about 6 times. I can go to the lake a lot more and spend less money. I only live about 10 miles from the lake so it's really close and me and the girlfriend can ride the jetskis and stuff to easier than finding another atv to ride.

I will get some more pics of it today. It's SUPER CLEAN. I will be getting new mats though.

rule #1 with the HX, don't fall off,
rule #2 practice reboarding, cuz you WILL fall off
#3 don't let a newbie ride it, they will fall off and you'll have to go fetch them
and I agree with the Doc, this is not a $2500 ski unless its modded under the hood, generally speaking $12-1500 all day long, from my experience they are a hard ski to sell.

The only ski thats not a standup that's harder to ride (IMO) is the Blaster 1, which has been described as "Riding a Pissed off piece of plywood" The HX is right behind it.

One trick is if you do stop (you should never ever stop) when riding this, dangle your feet in the water, it helps keep you from tipping over, otherwise you'll go kerplunk :)

now, the good news is,,, once you get used to this, you'll love it !

the xp and an hx should fit fine on a double trailer unless its a real tiny one.

I'd say the X2 is harder to ride than a HX... not to mention how ugly a X2 is vs. a HX.

although the X2 you dont' really have to get 'on' before going.

I usually re-board the HX and my 02 XP from the side by starting the ski, while I'm in the water, and spinning it around me. looks way cooler than getting on the back ;)

Hope to bring the ski out tomorrow. Should be interesting. I'm use to our 250x that you can stand on one side and not tip it over and I'm 230 pounds.

Supposed to be a fresh motor so I will finish the tank breaking it in and then hope to ride t some Sunday also.

Tried to get the registration for it but the guy I got it from never registered it so when I called i have to go through a whole mess to get the previous owner before him to state that it's good to go. Thank goodness I have 45 days to get that done

It`s VERY tippy. I'd pay 1000.00 for it. I could have had a 95 on a single trailer with cover and a full UMI for 1500.00

Well I guess on the bright side I didn't come out of any money so as long as I'm happy with the ski then I am happy. I did find a crack in my frame when we met to swap. I wouldn't have rode it till the crack got fixed and it probably would have required a new frame as it was already starting to bend to. The guy that got it said he still wanted it so we wen trough with the deal. I will get MUCH more use out of this. I rode the quad MAYBE 4-5 times a year. I can go Ride the ski probably 2 times a week....

As long as you're happy. It does look to have newer hydro turf as well as umi bars and start stop switch which is nice.

Each the hydro turf mats are coming off when I get extra money. I'm not too fond of the purple haha. I do like the bars. The buzzer is on the bars zip tied. Going to relocate that to maybe where the speedo would normally go.

Wow....ummm yeah....totally interesting day! My 230pound butt being 5' 10 was getting a workout just trying to get on this thing today. Burned a tank through it. It's bogging down really bad at slow speeds. It doesn't have the grey lines. Thinking maybe a carb rebuild? Not sure if these have needle adjustments or not. I'm looking that up when I get home. Other than that it ran good. Once I got on it and got it moving. With it bogging I believe that made t a lot harder to get going also without flipping off. I started popping the choke out one or two times and it got it going then it was good as long as I didn't slow down again.

He sounds lean to me Spim. It was starving if the choking helped him take off, right? Wren, the carbs do have adjustments and I would start by turning the low speeds out 1/4 turn each and see if it improves. It would be a great idea to go through the fuel system since you just bought it.

^I agree^ No matter what the previous owner said I would for sure go through the fuel system. Just for piece of mind. Sounds like you are lean on the bottom end.

Love the ski! I've been wanting a HX, but i'm trying to figure out how I would get through no wake zones without tipping over or making the local law enforcement angry. :biggrinjester:

Awesome! I'm going to richen It up some and see if it changes. I can tell even out of the water that it bogs. I deal with carb adjustments on weed eaters, chainsaws, RC cars and all so I can normaly tell when it's a lean or rich. This is definetly a lean condition I believe. Only grey hose I see is the one that goes to the right side which is the overflow line for the gas tank.

As for the no wake zones, that would be tricky. I think once I get the carbs right it would be easier but going slow is impossible.

The easiest way to board them when you fall off is to get on the throttle side. Start it,pin it and pull yourself on. I do the same on my XP's.

I can go to the lake a lot more and spend less money.

You can spend less money riding jet skis on the lake than riding ATVs!? Not sure what kind of atv you had but my TRX450R is MUCH cheaper to run than any ski I've owned. Hell, I can easily burn 3 full tanks of gas in one day of riding on my XP. Not to mention parts that wear out/break... ski's are expensive to run!

Only grey hose I see is the one that goes to the right side which is the overflow line for the gas tank.

If you talking about the fuel return line to the gas tank then that needs to be replaced as well. It will start oozing gunk into your fuel tank and clog stuff up.

Anytime we go riding it costs about $150. Closest place to ride is about an hour away. $25-30 a person. Plus gas and food. The lake is only 15mins from us and all it costs is gas and food. Now I can easily spend the same amount in gas if I rode all day and hard. But still come out cheaper than the quad and also I can actually get to the lake much more often than I could get to go riding. Also I am self employed. If I end up gettin hurt on the quad I would be SOL and I have bills just like anyone else.

The grey hose runs from the baffle to an outlet on the hull. I filled it up yesterday and it started coming out. Guess that's te next thing to replace

Ah ok, we have trails locally so we just hop on the bikes/quads and go. If you drive and pay an entry fee to a place then I could see it being expensive.

Thats just the vent hose then, it should be ok leaving it grey. It wouldn't hurt to check the one way valves though to make sure they are clear.
