Getting seadoo off trailer to a portable work stand

As the title implies, how do you guys get your doo off the trailer into a work stand? This winter I'm going to fill scratches and buff the bottom, but can't get to certain areas on trailer, bunks in the way. I keep seeing coupons for harbor freight and their folding 1 ton shop crane. So thought maybe that and some straps. But looking for ideas and pictures if available. Already have plans for a portable dolly to build. Thanks

Just make one with wheels. Roll it to the trailer and pull the seadoo right onto the stand. Place a wheel chock behind the tires so it doesn't roll. Then when you want to put it back on the trailer just line the seadoo up with your bunks and use your winch to pull it back on.

Tip #1 for your stand. measure how high your bunks are on your trailer when in its position you store it in and make sure you build your stand so the bunks are at the same height. Makes transfering it easier.

oooh if anybody has these, how thick are they?

I have them and have had them for many years.

They allow for MUCH easier launching and removal. I stop my trailer about when the wheels are cover and use a small amount of throttle and put the skis right on perfectly straight every time.

It is CRUCIAL that you use tie does as the skis are more willing to come off the trailer on bumps and hiss and what not.

I strongly recommend them.

When I first got my seadoo I couldn't even push it back on the trailer to readjust the winch. Had to move it about 2 feet back. Ended up launching it then adjusting. Can't imagine pushing it off by myself.

I just back my dolley upto the trailer and drag the ski onto the dolley. It is a bit of a pain, but I take care of that with a cold beer afterwards.

Well here's what I made and it works great! Same height as trailer of course!

Sometimes we set the ski on a couple of old tires off the rims if we run out of carts to set them on. Transporting to and from boat shows we do this in the back of a pickup so we can take more skis with us.

Castle, do those just install over the carpeted bunk? With screws?

So I need a forklift? :)

How much are the rub rail lifting hooks?

I used to switch trailers a lot. I would take the winch support off of the trailer it was currently on, put the new trailer in front of it, the winch it onto the new one using the new trailers winch.

Yep. Screw in place with supplied stainless steel screws. They fit into a recessed hole so they don't touch the hull.

I made my cart taller than my trailer. I'm 6'-2" and I don't like to be bent over all day wrenching on something. I used plans I found online on PWCtoday from some twinturbomustang user or something like that, I'll post the link later. It's actually really easy to slide the XP up onto the cart. It's the perfect height for me, but if your vertically challenged go for a shorter cart.

I've been able to muscle my skis on and off the trailer by myself. I wouldn't consider myself a big person either( 6'4" 185). So I'm pretty gangly. HAH! I DO have a winch on my wall that I've used a time or 2 as well, but to be honest unless the trailer is hooked to the back of the truck it gets to be a pain to keep the trailer from trying to roll around.

I need to actually take pics of my setup. I use the winch as my motor puller too. :)

for sliding purposes, u can use pledge or crisco on the carpeted bunks to get them on and off easier

How many people does it take to lift into the back of a pickup, or do you have another means?

Well, we use a forklift of course. We take the forklift with us to the shows, too, we use it to lift the pontoon boat onto our overhead display stand and move our boats around, take everything off the trailers and set them all up on blocks.

It takes us about a full week to setup and break down everything for the shows, several skis, 3 or 4 pontoons, a couple of fiberglass boats, a couple of mules.

A real PITA!

the lift idea has been covered in another thread.

just get a stand, and either put a winch on the wall or mount one to the stand (that's what I did) or just give your neighbor a beer and slide it over.. takes like 30 seconds with 2 healthy males.
