I looked around and this was the best place to post this that I could find but if theres a better place please tell me. I'm a marine in Iraq and because of the time frame that i was given to deploy I wasn't able or prepared to completely winterize my 2006 RXP. The only thing I was able to do was add a fuel addative to keep it from breaking down and lube everything possible with wd40 and get it covered under a carport. I know i'm going to need new plugs and replace all the fluids and anything else that you could give me(advice or other things I should do) I would greatly appreciate it. I'll take all tips and hints that you can all offer. I should be getting home in the next couple months and I want to start getting her up and running asap. If anyone could tell me the best type of oil and coolant and what kind of plugs I need and where the best place to get them is that would be appreciated as well. I've been told its very expensive to go through seadoo and its best to get everything else where and do it yourself. However I care more about the ski and I'm not to worried about the money so please just let me know what I need and what I can expect or where I can get better information to do all of this. I'd like to have the parts sitting at home waiting for me. I generally do everything for my car but I'm told its slightly different with the ski. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

Seadoo....

With your model being so new, I'd recommend you use the required brands of seadoo synthtic oils in your owners manual. You can get your NGK plugs through your local car parts shop and your oil can be cross referenced with any Non NMMA oil, Low ash. But it is better to use the Seadoo blend.

Welcome to the best Seadoo Forum on the internet Shawn. I personaly use all Seadoo parts for my Seadoo's. I might get a bargin now and then but use what the manuals suggest and don't short change yourself. If you want to Be up to date you could join as a premium member and be able to read up on your seadoo on line as a pdf file or print it off for your own personal and privet use. Click on the "seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for details. If you have any other questions or need help, let us know. We have a lot of active members eager to help.

West marine...

If you have a "West Marine" or "Boats U.S." store around you, then you may be able to find a good, inexpensive blend of oil there. But make sure you don't mix oil with oil your using now, unless you know what kind it is!...

Thanks

Hey thanks for all the help. As far as the premium membership goes that sounds nice but not for my situation. The internet is in and out here and I'm only able to use it at certain times when its actually working. When I get back to the states I might consider it then. As far as her freezing up on me if it did then I'll just have to replace anything busted. The way it was explained to me is that the engine is as close to a cars motor that you can get. I was told that it already had antifreeze in it being that their self cooled and don't use the water to cool anything except the exhaust. I bought it second hand not from a deeler so maybe the guy I bought it from used antifreeze. As far as the oil you were talking about whats the difference from regular oil. Is that just a particular certification. Either way I'll def use seadoo products its only a once a year deal so I dont really care. The mention of the two different boat stores will def help I'll start there looking for things that I need(the plugs and all the new fluids).
What I'm really hoping is to be able to order the stuff now and have it waiting for me at home so as soon as I get home on leave I'll be able to get working right away. If you guys could give me some sort of list of parts/fluids that I'll need i can start ordering. I dont have my manual here obviously so if you could tell me what you guys think I'd appreciate it.

coolant...

You are right about the coolant, but ther is an open loop cooling system too. It's used in the cooler that transfers heat away from your antifreeze. You also have water in your ride plate.
This is all set up to gravity drain when you take it out of the water, but some water will be left in the pockets............you may be o.k.

Shawn, you might be able to walk in to a seadoo dealer and just ask for the things needed over the counter and have everything you need at one stop. That seadoo you have is very popular and I'm sure the parts are stocked at every seadoo dealer.

ok

I had no idea there was water anywhere else besides the coolant system.. i dont even know what the ride plate it...lol once i got her straped down on the trailer i lifted it as high as i could without letting her touch the ground to let it drian so hopefully that helped and she had a couple months to sit so hopefully some hot days dried her up and everything ran out if its possible for it to.

As far as going to the store I'm sure i'll be able to find one near my home. my area isnt a big watersports area but seadoos a big company. when i get home on leave i'm getting picked up and i just wanted the parts waiting for me. i guess i'm just more excited to get back into it then anything. i'll have a bunch of crap to do like going back and forth and trying to get insurance and tags for my car when i get home so i just wanted the parts waiting for me.

I have a couple other questions but I figured I might as well post them here instead of in another thread.
I was told that you should take some of the old oil and put it in where the plugs go and then put them back in and fire it up and that it will most likey destroy the plugs but it cleans it out or something and then you replace the oil and put the new plugs in. that might have been just to store it i'm not sure. i'm sure you can fill me in
i was also wondering why its recommended to do all of the changes(plugs/oil/fluid) before the winter and after is that just personal preferance for people or is it better one way.

ok well i can say thanks enough for all the help
