Gasket, o-ring or both on secondary oil pump

Hey all. I’m swapping parts over onto a new 4tec block. The old block did not have a gasket on the front oil pump. Maybe it was supposed to? I picked up gasket kit 41-113 (install kit) which comes with a gasket & o-ring.

in my short mechanic experience, I don’t recall ever using a gasket and o-ring together; always one or the other. Appreciate all the help & knowledge.

That gasket looks like it almost fits that pump, but there is large unsupported strip of gasket on the lower right side. I am also not accustomed to using a gasket against an o-ring, but I have no experience with this pump.
