This is a super dumb question, but I followed some others advice on here on how to fix the gas gauge.

As others have stated, my magnet fell out of the float. I'm just going to jb weld the magnet, but was just wondering if the magnet should be placed towards the top of the float, bottom, or middle for most accurate readings?

I assume if placed lower in the float the gas light will turn on a tad earlier, but will it show full when its full?

Edit: I'm gunna go with the bottom I think that would make the most sense, so the tank should be most accurate that way when LOW on fuel :)
This was kinda a dumb post and can be deleted I think.

Spend the $20 and get the new updated float. JB weld probably will not last too long constantly in fuel and the old float material is pretty crappy too.

The old float material is called nitrophyl, it is known for acting like a sponge and actually soaking up gas to the point where it is no longer buoyant ( that means it's no longer a float )I personally wouldn't waste my time fooling with one.

Wow I didn't know that about the old floats. Seems to be working for me right now, but that's good to know. If the float starts sticking I'll pick up a replacement.

That said, JB weld, according to the specs, won't break down in gas.
