Fuel vent valves question 1996 SPX

The CHECK valve and PRESSURE RELIEF valves on the fuel vent lines for my 1996 SPX are not in stock at the dealer.
The old ones have a bit of goo in them. I am replacing all the fuel lines and I'm wondering if I have to wait for the new valves to be ordered or just clean and re-use the old ones.

Can I just give them a good shot of carb cleaner, blow them dry, check for normal operation and put them back?
Or... is there some secret voodoo about these things that make them more complicated than they appear?

Thanks

I have never replaced these, and I have never heard of anyone else need to replace them. Since it's not a part of the fuel delivery system just check to see if the valve is working, if not clean with super clean or purple power and blow dry.

Thanks Lou,

That's what I figured. The lower one was pretty near stopped up, but OK now. If there is no VooDoo in that part of the SeaDoo then back they go.

I was only going to check the valves and not replace those vent lines but they looked pretty nasty and I have a few feet of fuel line left.

The one at the water line is the pressure release and should flow out at about 3-5 psi but not in. THe upper one is the check valve and should flow air into the tank and not let it out. My check valve was bad and would let air in and out of the tank. I would try cleaning with brake cleaner not carb cleaner. Brake cleaner is much easier on rubber and plastic than carb cleaner.

My vent is broken at the water line but the one at top is fine.
How critical is fixing the one at the water line?

If it is broken it could let water into the fuel system or cause the tank pressure to be too high and flood the engine. I would fix it.
