By mistake I added 89 octane fuel to my 2008 RXP215 Seadoo's. Will this casue any damage to the units or will it just cause it not to perform to its maximum performace?

It should have 91, but don't worry... when it gets a bit lower, fill it backup. If it had some of the older fuel in it it will mix with that too. The only worry is if it detonates or has pre ignition... The higher octane fuel prevents that. You should be ok.

My 215 4Tec boat says it only needs regular grade fuel, I usually put in 91-94 even though it may not benefit but when I do run it on 87 I see no performance difference....
