You have the old type, it had a couple of corks, one in each end, while you have the baffle out get a new float. The newer style floats are white molded plastic.
I'm very reluctant to endorse any supplier, this just happens to be the best price on this particular item. Fact is I get most of my parts from Riva Motorsports, a sponsor of this site. I've technically broken forum rules by recommending a particular site, I'll leave the shopping to you.
Chances are you only need a new float, which is the problem at least 90% of the time, personally I have not had one where it wasn't the float. Replace it with the newer molded type.
Lou, thanks for mentioning the old float issue. I thought it was just magnets that caused problems. Like in my XP. I installed a new "white" float today in the GSX & it now reads 1/4 tank, where before it said empty. Thanks again,
Do you guys know if the 95's had the same issue with the sinking floats & are they the same magnet style?
The fuel gauge is reading empty on the 95 XP I picked up & I am assuming its the same issue the GSX had,
I haven't pulled it apart yet to test it further, But if they are known to sink, I am just going to order a new float as a maintenance item.
The same thing, its a little different style but same problem. The float you bought for your 96 will fit and work in the 95. the one on the left is what originally came in the 95
Great picture! I popped it apart & it has the gold porous one on the left. The magnet bailed & was stuck on the backside of the reed board. Did the gold one sink too? My 96 had the black one. It sunk like a rock & I replaced it with a white one.
The gold one came from the 95 XP, the black from the 96 GSX, and the white from the 97 GSX. All of them sank like stones. The gold one sank and the magnets were gone.

So, I ordered another seadoo replacement (white) float. If I remove one magnet, it functions fine in the 95 sender, however because the white float taller than the gold original one, it will never show completely full. Thinking about cutting it down to the same height, but I wonder if that would comprise its ability to "float" I cut an old black one I had in the shop, & its a solid piece. Not that it has to show all bars of fuel when full, but if I can make it work, that would be great.
Unfortunately you cant shorten it, the float is hollow and I dont think there is any kind of sealer that will last to reseal the float cause it is sitting in fuel all the time.
I did not take a magnet out for fear of creating a leak. My ohm readings are 87 at empty and 28 full. The spec is 89 and 17, so I will probably miss the top and bottom bar on my gauge when I install it.
