Hey all I think my fuel selector valve is going nuts.

first, I'm able to run the motor when its set to OFF...second, If left ON, it floods the crank with fuel. Can someone advise on what to do here. Thanks. 96 gsx, brand new SBT motor.

similar selector valve issue

I have a similar issue with my fuel selector valve.

On my '97 GSX, no matter where you put the valve position, the fuel is always on (a good thing I guess since I can still ride). But I want to be able to turn it off so I can run the carbs out when I'm done riding. I don't know what position it is supposed to be in anymore (ie: which way is it supposed to be pointing for each position).

Take a look at this thread: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=5826
Take a look at the 7th picture (of the fuel line system). Based on the position of the selector valve shown, is it in the Fuel On position, or the Reserve position?

I think my selector valve (or at least the turn handle portion on top) is slipping and not actually turning the valve itself. At one time (a few months back) I actually got the fuel to turn off, but the "fat" portion of the turn handle was pointed at Fuel Off. It didn't seem right, but it worked. I haven't been able to get it to turn off since.

The parts manual doesn't show a very good blow-up view of this valve either. Anybody have good pictures of one?

I'm going to try and mess with it this weekend after I pick up the ski's from storage. We'll see what happens...

In understanding your fuel system, there is no need to turn the valve on and off
unless you are working on the carb(s) as the system is a pressureized one that
the Fuel Bafel breath line can breath in or out and regulated by a one-way check
valve after it branches, that opens at 3-5 lbs psi. Opening the gas cap lets any air
pressure escape and that depressurizes the gas tank delivery system. A large expell
when opening the cap also means the out valve that vents under the rub rail is cloged. We recommend replaceing selector valves with a plastic one, or if cleaning
your existing, to dill out the three tubes on valve with a 3/16" drill. Bills86e
