seriously is there really any reason to use marine grade fuel lines to replace the old grey fuel lines and is plain old automotive fuel line good enough to use and not get blown up riding my jetski

Don't use USCG fuel hose, or will wind up with the same problems. Right now... USCG fuel hose is not stable with alcohol in the fuel. We have been burning 10% in most of the USA for +10 year. (depending where you live)

We never recommend using anything other than black rubber, automotive fuel hose.

thanks for the info will get some automotive fuel line and replace it today thanks agian:cheers:

I have the exact same ski as in your picture. Also have a blue '96. '96 bogged down 2 years ago due to clogged carbs from the gunk from the fuel lines. actually just replaced most of the lines on the '97 two days ago. Some suggestions to make it easier:
- there are a couple lines that are just vent hoses that you do not have to replace
- drop the fuel selector out of the hull to make it easier to access the hoses that attach to it (remove the little rubber cover from the center, remove the phillips screw, lift off the knob, then remove the hex nut and the selector then drops inside the hull)
- don't struggle to replace the long line that goes under the engine or the real sort ones that go to the carbs while the carbs are on as I did the first time, you have to remove the carbs after replacing the fuel lines to clean the filters and these hoses are easily accessed after you remove the carbs so replace those ones when the carbs are off.

just curious, what kind of speed can you get from your ski? mine maxes at 63mph, may get a few more mph once i finish replacing the lines and clean the carbs. but that is also about the max i get on the '96 after cleaning the carbs.

As Dr Honda said, you are safe to use regular non-fuel injected fuel lines. I recently changed mine with the cheap black automotive fuel lines from my local auto parts store for about $1.25 per foot.

bigJake, you are not actually doing 63 with that ski. The speedometers on the older skis are "estimates" and tend to be up to 8-10 mph high. If you want accurate readings, you have to use a gps unit (or radar gun) to get your speed.

dj you had to go and burst my bubble :) still goes fast enough for me, any faster I tihink I'd lose control. hey what part of Pittsburgh you in? we live in Peters twp.

I replaced my grey fuel lines with Rubber USGG labelled lines on my 1997 GTS. After being stored in a cold barn over the winter the fuel lines are all covered in mold. It is firmly attached to the lines as if it was eating the covering. Anyone else had this experience?

If you have mold... then you left water in the bilge. (not good) That same moisture could be causing other issues. BUT... to get rid of it, just spry it down with Castrol Super Clean... and then wash that off with water. It will kill the mold, and clean the bilge. But, don't let the cleaner sit on the ski. It can stain, and strip paint. Just give it a few minutes to work, and wash it off.
