fuel leak

I have a 95 seadoo spi. Ski was bogging down and we could not figure it out. Changed the fuel lines, pulled and cleaned fuel tank. There has been a strong smell of fuel in the garage so took off the seat cover and theres bubbly water in the bottom of the hull. Smell the water and sure enough there is gas in it. New fuel line and clamps are secure. Remove black box that covers carb and see there is a leak coming from the carb area. Best way I can describe it is its on the right side of the ski near the hull and its seeping through the piece that looks like a diamond with four phillip screws at each corner. Can reach in there with a stubby phillips but cant get enough power to turn the screws. A few questions, do I have to take this carb out and if so how the hell does it come out? I tried everything and I was able to see four bolts youd take off with an alan wrench but one is hard to reach and im not able to get a tool on it, are these the right bolts. Second, once it comes out is there anything I can use as a temporary gasket just to get through the rest of this year? Still hot here and still going to the lake as much as I can.

I'm guessing your talking about the bottom carb. cover. You're going to have to remove the carbs. to get to it. Get allen sockets and a wobble joint with an extension, 1/4". You can make new carb. to engine gaskets yourself from gasket material from an auto parts store. The valve body gasket you might have to order. If your carbs. need overhauling it would be a good time to do it.

Sounds like the regulator cover.

The carb needs to come off, and fixed correctly. The screws could just be loose... but you could have a rip in the diaphragm behind that cover. Also... if it is a bad diaphragm... there isn't a temp fix. You will need a new one.

Let me end with this....

Since we are dealing with 2-strokes... the fuel is the "Life Blood" of these engines. Any issues with the fuel system should be seen as a critical/terminal problem, and need to be addressed before riding the ski again. The reason for that is... if you run lean... you will roast your engine.

Alrite I will go get this tool because it looks as if the carbs just need to be rebuilt.

Thanks for the info. That hurts to read, have to order the kits so probably will lose another week at the lake. Maybe its just time to call it a season.

Get the long set of hex 3/8 rounded sockets. I just had the carbs off and those tools make is so much easier.
Sounds to me like the carb gasket. Get the gasket with the right tools 10 min fix. You don't have to disconnect any lines or cables to change the gasket. Gl.

UPDATE: Carb was pulled and it was the diaphragm. Just ordered the mikuni kit. Thanks for the help guys!

Your diaphram has hole(s) in it and the gas is now coming out the weep hole. same as water pump on a car that goes bad, leaks out the weep hole. You should go thru your carbs every 2-3 years, the carb "sticky" has videos ect for DIY.

How much for the mikuni I just bought one 63 bucks 100 psi :"/

50 shipped from SBT

Exactly, put the diaphragm towards the light and could see 2 small tears. Will check out the sticky
