Thanks alot guys.....screwdriver, dremel, soldering iron, and 20 minutes and it was fixed. You guys are the best!!!

One question though.........is it neccessary to completely seal up the hole I cut to remove the blown fuse?? Fuel is in that area anyway...what would be the purpose? Thanks, Jim

i am asking the same question.....i am going to do the f1 fuse repair..after finding my float was gas logged, i replaced the float and the gas guage still dont work...i have tested my guage..it does work......i want to know can i cut out the area around the f1 fuse and not try to reseal it ,, thanks as posted above it is all in the gas anyway?? isnt it?

well.......i have fixed my gas gauge by soldering the f1 fuse over. i see the neck of the gas tank covers the opened area you make, and the rubber boot covers the neck so really no reason to cover the hole you made perfectly because the neck and rubber boot cover the patch work spot anyway...so no real reason to have to fill the hole you made in the plastic ...it has a small hole on the back side of the same tube to let air out so that gas can flow up and down inside the tube anyways.............my 2 cents

I would seal the hole. Your float will last longer. That little hole on the other side is to let air out up to a certain point. Above that point air is trapped in there keeping your float from being totally submerged on a full tank of gas. It is not critical, just make your float last longer.
