Fuel gauge not working

I have a 2000 SeaDoo GTi...the fuel gauge is pegged on "E" and tank is over half full. Last time I had it out it worked fine. Now nothing. I have read other posts on likely problems...someone please tell me I'm not going to have to remove the engine...

All this is happening right as a prospective buyer wants to take it home, but is cautious about the gauge (rightfully so.)

Please help.

Thanks

WOW, hold on........ You dont need to remove the engine, so ya kinda lost me... If you remove the 4 screws on the glove box, the fule baffel will pull right up and out that hole... It is an easy fix, took me an afternoon, and let me tell you I had about 6 or 7 other things going on at the same time.. It is a VERY easy fix.

Awesome...glad to hear it. I was worried about some unknown worst case scenario...glad to be wrong this time! Do you recommend i buy a new fuel baffle or should i attempt to isolate and repair existing condition?

Thanks for the knowledge

pull the fule baffle, and unsnapp the 2 wire plug

break out an ohms meter, if you dont have one you can pick one up from wall mart for 15 bucks.

apply the two probs from the meter to the wire. tilt the fule baffle back and forth. When you do that you should see the reading meter move.

If it dont move , in my oppinion its best to just get a new baffle.

Thanks man. I 'll do that.

Also, pop the float out of the baffle. Sometimes the float is bad and will not float or the magnets on it need a good cleaning. Take the float out and put it in a cup of gas, not water, and see if it floats.

Most of the time the baffle is bad, but try this before you buy a new one. News ones are expensive, floats are cheap. Look on Ebay first, I bought one for $40 this summer that works great.

Fuel gage?.......

You don't need the ohm's meter gage to check your fuel gage.

Pop the plug as he says but instead of the ohm meter, take a short piece of wire, stripped on either side and short them across the two connectors. Turn the power on to your ski. If it's the fuel baffle, you'll see "full" on your fuel gage.

The fuel baffle has probably blown the internal fuse. I've been looking for the link we have on a fix for it but I'm not able to find it at the moment. I'll have to locate and bookmark it for future use. If I find it tonight, I'll post a link here for it...........cheers:
