Fuel Baffle Fuse

No F1 fuse in here.
Was trying to do a llittle preventative maintenance while the tank was out.
Put in a new float and solder over the fuse.
Cut the baffle open and no fuse!
I cut open the same side as shown in the post on repairing the baffle.
According to the repair post, it is a surface mounted fuse.
Should be on the side of the circuit board that has the electrical traces.
Baffle part number 275 500 186 out of '97 SPX.
Looking at the traces, the go straight to the reed switches.
Only components I can see are the reed switches, resistors and what looks to be a capacitor.
This same baffle also had the single magnet float.

Oh well.....

Nope...I'd say not!

My fuel gage quit working so I did the operation. But, when I got it open, the fuse tested good.

Long story short, testing led me to one of the wires that come from the plug to the soldered button on the board. I replaced the wire and it all works correctly now..........:cheers:

Ive had the same problem with my fuel gauge not working, so i tore into the baffle with the solder gun. Once inside there was no fuse. I looked the baffle part number up 275 500 318. I"m really frustrated. Any help would be great. 1996 GTI

Same here my 96 GTS and my friends 97 GTI both stopped working?

Just wanted to throw this out there. I just did my 97 spx last night. It does have the F1 fuse it is just located further up form the (cut out) area that is shown in most pics that you see. So at the very top of the circuit board above the white tab. You have to cut just below the flange and down a couple inches from both sides to get to it. And this is what it looks like... Sorry I did not take pics of the baffle as I did the fix but it is there and the fix worked like a charm.
