Frozen wear ring removal method ??

Hi

I've seen several videos of people putting their impellers into the freezer to get the wear ring to slide right out in order to install a new one.

Has anyone on this forum done this?

Is it a good idea or not?

I'm wondering if condensation forming inside the bearing is a potential problem from using this method.

I've done it numerous times without any problems and have read on other forums of folks doing this. I've also heard of folks using a saws-all blade and manually cutting lenghtwise.

Nope...freeze away.....30-60min...ring falls out.

Does not work on plastic housings, at least it did not work on my 2005 GTX 155

Works awesome unless you have the older design pumps made of plastic. Only works on the newer metal (aluminum) ones.
