What do you guys think?

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/boa/4452164937.html

I've called the owner and he does have the title. Carbs are off the ski. He said that the carb butterflys are frozen up and he bent one of the throttle arms.

He said that the engine will crank over and has compression but that he doesn't have the correct DESS key. Would it crank over without the proper keyed DESS key? I know that you can always bypass the start button and send 12v to the solenoid to crank the engine (or just jump the big solenoid terminals with a screwdriver.)

From what I can see, and it's not much, the trailer is better than one of the two double trailers that I currently own. That's worth something to me since I'm not real happy with the one that I own.

Currently pouring rain like crazy. He'd rather show the ski tomorrow when we're supposed to have nice weather here in the JAX area.

the xp's could be nice, i'd be very interested in one, or both for that matter, big time, but its 5 hours away from me, i have no interest in the trailer except to scrap it.

Why does the 1995 XP jetpump extend out from the hull so far? The 1996 spx and similar x4 in the 717 do not go out that far???

I can't wait for this guy to call me back. I'm on this like a hobo on a ham sandwich! The one engine pic shows an odd engine of some kind!?! The other ski says Coffman's on it and has a high top seat, I see bike bars...UMI?........oh boy oh boy.
How early can you call a guy on Sun morning? http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/boa/4452865334.html

ya, that's worth chasing.... keep us posted, that show's a lot of promise !

Yep I got the call and brought them home! Been put away wet a long while back and by "put away" I mean left out in the elements. It was still worth it with all the goodies so I aired the tires up with my trusty little compressor, greased the bearing buddies and made it home.

The odd one is made from a SP and has a Suzuki engine in it. They took the time to class in the pump and new exhaust outlet as well as rear facing drains on both sides. They put a scoop grate and Beach House sponsons on it. Seems like more of what was laying around then what would make a great ski but still neat.

The main one was a legit race boat. I'm giving the hull to my neighbor(not all the goodies on the hull of coarse) who wants to move his 96GSX parts over and race. Both hulls came with UMI set ups but on this one I also get...and be prepared to be jealous.....Red Top drop trim system, 85/88 nozzles, Jet Dynamics grate, some AM prop I'm sure, Coffmans race pipe with Micro Touch water injection(Boo-yah), MSD Enhanser ignition, Beach House, Racepac probes, splash guard, etc.

Needless to say I'm glad this one didn't get away from me.

I went and saw this thing yesterday. I was hoping to find something that turned me off but I didn't. They spent 6K putting new engines in two years ago and I believe it. I mean I don't see the SBT sticker if you know what I'm saying. I think it was a dealership job. One cylinder has a crack in it and one side is a little faded. I offered 24.....wish me luck. http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/boa/4417148569.html

My fear here is not that I couldn't fix it and earn a dollar, but that the family won't let me sell it.

winner winner chicken dinner !

Yeah I agree. I talked to the wife about it. She has not rode the perfect running and clean RXX one time this year(maybe if I put some real housewive's stickers on it?), anyway, we offered this in trade: http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/boa/4425035476.html

I love that ski OCOD got for us but if I could turn it into that boat I probably should. I sold that single trailer so my offer was just for the ski. I would rather him choose the $2400 but so far it's been neither.

Actually even at 3K its not a bad buy, especially knowing that you can do all the labor, and if its getting flipped maybe just Frankenstein the bad engine together. Take it out a few times then sell it maybe. When I had my challenger I faced a similar issue, my wife kind of wanted to keep it, but I didn't at all, I knew that she's probably only go out 3-4 times and get bored with it, then i'd be stuck with the dam boat.

I got lucky when the challenger inspired my brother in law to buy a deck boat so the pressure was taken off of me, so i was able to sell mine and then I just went out with him and paid for gas instead of having to maintain (and store) my own boat. Boats are a big pain in the azz honestly, especially if you can't park them inside, they get so dam dirty, and it takes a hell of a lot more time to clean it, and keep it clean than it does a ski.

My advice would be to increase your offer and buy it, get it running, go out a couple of times while having it listed on CL for fair market value, and tell the wife that the worst thing that happens is you get fair market value and if you want to get another boat, the money is already there.

Nothing like those Yamaha Seadoo's http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/boa/4455127989.html

that trailer is god awful, needs a hell of a lot more than paint !
but the ski isn't a bad deal if the basic's check out, he'll probably sell it very close to that price. I'd offer $600 for it all day long and feel dam good about it, but i'd drop my offer to $550 if he wants me to take the trailer. (i'm not kidding, the trailer is a throw away and i'd want $50 for the hassle)

Oh man that trailer is a ROACH. Not sure from this pic but if that's a platform at the front half of it is
rotten away! Reminds me of once when we went to look at a 98 GSX which needed a motor but was otherwise
in really nice shape. It came with a trailer that was a pile of rust. The guy wouldn't separate and I wasn't paying to dump it - if it made it the 100+ miles I drove in a snowstorm....I told the guy the trailer wasn't even safe.

I phoned the guy back a few weeks later to see if I could just get the machine and he said he sold it as a pair a week after I had seen it. He then mentioned the trailer made it about 2 miles away and collapsed in half.....

Putty and paint, make what it ain't!

Imagine what the inside of that box tubing looks like! Scrap for light iron is paying $9.25 per 100# by me. So if that trailer weighed in at 300# so you'll get just shy of $30 for scrap value.

honestly in that deal, i'd probably bring my own trailer, park it about a mile away, buy the ski/trailer, drive 1 mile & transfer it to my trailer and leave the rust bucket right there.

ya but you'd have to remove the misc, at least thats how my recycle place does it, tires, lights, etc, all have to be stripped off, like I said, and i'm being semi-serious, my offer would be $50 less if I had to take the trailer, it certainly would become part of the reverse negotiations.

Check out this fool. Obviously he does not have a GPS (or any honesty). That green and black ski was found here on this thread and I clocked it at about 50 before I passed it on. http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/boa/4459594307.html

I want to throw out another HUGE thank you to Nammer who picked up a race hull for me, stored it in the wife's way, and then delivered it to my parents. He won't take any money so......

+1 for Nammer.... Thats awesome man... Some dang good folks on this site.

Nam kicked the ad up for around a grand in the middle of last winter. I talked my little brother into driving an hour south to meet the guy after I had negotiated him down to 7 or 8 hundred and a good rolling single.

I cleaned the fuel system, put a good battery in it and tested it on the lake. It ran fine but was not in the same league as my other X4's of the time. I came in and made a craigslist ad for it for $1800 cause I thought I'd have a line in the water while I improved it further. The next morning I sold it for $1500 cash at 7AM!!

I saw it advertised in the 2K range for a while and the guy listing it now must have been who bought it.
