Leave your thoughts I will read them!

Any one want kawi stand up with extra engine
:o
I need a trailer?

if your hard up for a single, i have one in my back yard, not practical for a 3 seater tho, its one of the smaller ones.

$100 for trailer, + $40 for the new winch i just installed. I've also got a double.

Hey, thanks for offer. Season still early :)
Does it just need longer bunks?

no, its just that its one of the small/standard pwc trailers vs slightly wider/longer ones that I prefer for a 3 seater. you should be able to find one locally pretty easy in the 150-200 range tho.

You would think?
people are are asking 250-300+
I've seen cheepo's but then I need bearings/tires or repair rust/bunks/lights.
Don't need show trailer just something to park in the corner for the occassioanl solo use.

I picked up a big tote that has the narrow axle and ballon tires.
They sell adpater for hitch option.
I just need hubs and tires and viola 2nd trailer?? Not sure if it can handle towing though??

edit:

Spim yours is like this?

That 97GSX that JSG dug up has got to be the winner. That thing looks like ole RacerXXX got a hold of it.....right down to the threebond.

I like that one too, nice and clean looking, but the vintage Powell Peralta Skateboards sticker on the craftsman tool box sold me!

Im looking to only spend about $1200. for a set of 2. no engine preference but. I do want to ride them during the meet!

Also if they are nice and new skis I would be willing to spend more. I just dont want to pay more then the book value on them.

hmmm $1200 for two ski's on a trailer, assuming 1 runs ? maybe... assuming 2 run? well might be a bit of a stretch.

I mean really, we have cheap ski's down here but not THAT cheap.

If anybody is looking for a 96 xp hull that has been prepped for a 951 drop, very reasonable (I believe fiberglass work is done inside, and the rear has also been shaved for the pump) let me know, a friend of mine had one up there about a month ago, i thought about taking a drive by and looking at it over the weekend, but I really don't need a x4 951 project, it will end up costing more than it can ever be sold for, so i'm not sure I want to start such a project.

A 96 97 98 when you look up the book values are between 650 to 1000. Thats a running good condition ski. so taking in the facts that 90*/, of them need work. puts me in that price range. I just dont want to end up upside down on skis. I wouldnt mind going upside down on 1 but two would be too much to explain to the wife. LOL

What do you have for sale?

i don't have anything for sale, just trying to help, but not sure where you getting the book values (650-1000?) IMO those are pretty aggressive numbers for running ski's.

I've been buying and selling in FL for some time now and if I had to put book values on random 96-98 ski's i'd say 1000-1650 is an acceptable range for good running ski's, clean hull, no major issues besides maybe non functioning gauges, trim etc, sitting on a single trailer that isn't perfect but doesn't suck.

Again, i've sold a number of 96-98 seadoo's and i've never ever ever sold one running for under $1400 (and that was for a dam wave venture now that I think about it) I think the lowest price i've ever sold a seadoo 787 was $1650, a 717 for $1450. A vast majority were between 1600-2100 retail with the numbers in 2012 being on the lower end of that spectrum.

650-1000 is an acceptable target price for a buyer, but it would definitely be under retail market prices.

The 98 spx for $950 (running, per description) was what I'd consider a good buy here in FL this time of year.

I'd also worry greatly about buying any used trailer down here with plans to drag it 1000 miles north immediately after, your typically going to have to replace lights, and at a bare minimum repack the bearings, possibly replace tires. Not as much of a concern for us locals, usually we're only taking a questionable trailer a dozen miles home then we can inspect & repair whats wrong. If for some reason the dam wheel falls off 4 miles from home I have 3 people I can call for help, you don't have that luxury on I 75 in the middle of Georgia.

The buyers advantage in Florida is two fold:
1) the broken down ski's that need lots of TLC that can be snatched up for $2-500 all day long.
2) the runners for $1500 that are worth $2200 up north.

IMO its dam near impossible to get upside down on a Florida purchase that's heading up north unless you buy a "runner" that turns out to be a piece of chit and needs a rebuild.

Nobody ever pays attention to this part of the price guides

Value Explanations

Prices shown are retail consumer values and to be considered as selling prices. Trade-in values are to be determined by local dealers and are generally lower than values shown.
Suggested List – We have included manufacturer's suggested retail pricing (MSRP) to assist in the financing, insuring and appraising of vessels. The MSRP is the manufacturer's and/or distributor's highest suggested retail price in the U.S.A. when the unit was new. The MSRP is furnished by the manufacturer and/or distributor and are assumed to be correct. Unless indicated, the MSRP does not include destination charges, dealer set-up, state or local taxes, license tags or insurance.
Low Retail Value — A low retail valued boat will show excessive wear and tear either cosmetically and/or mechanically. This boat may or may not be in running order. The buyer can expect to invest in cosmetic and/or mechanical work. Low retail vessels usually are not found on a dealer's lot. Low Retail is not a trade-in value.
Average Retail Value — An average retail valued boat should be in good condition with no visible damage or defects. This boat will show moderate wear and tear and will be in sound running condition. The buyer may need to invest in either minor cosmetic or mechanical work.
Note: Vessels in exceptional condition can be worth a significantly higher value than the Average Retail Price shown.
Salt Water Note: Research indicates that boats exclusively used in salt water, which are not maintained and cleansed with fresh water, may depreciate more rapidly. This could influence the book value 10% to 15%.

I agree
The 98 spx for $950 (running, per description) was what I'd consider a good buy here in FL this time of year.

This looks like what Im looking for. I dont mind paying for something I wont have to dump a ton of cash into.

The outfits that put out book values on skis are grouping our beloved XP's and GSX's in there with all the junk that was sold back then. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay. The open market out here in the real world is worth everything compared to some book.

Lol look at the key. I have a few like that. You can fix them at west marine though. They have similiar rubber coated line, and they will crimp the ends for you, most of you guys in fl probably have crimpers for those steel leaders you use for salt water fishing. So you could probably crimp them yourselves.

I thought this was the best value. After the $1000 for the rebuilt motor, you are getting a 2 place and the rest of the gsx for $500. You could probably offer $1350 and get it

FYI Northern Guys...

Someone mentioned florida trailers, WOW, ugly flashbacks from my first venture south to florida to score on a super boat steal. The PO swore he just had the bearings checked and repacked and he seemed like a solid guy... the results were after a 100 miles of I75 I was left with a 3000lb boat on a tandem trailer with both starboard bearings shot 900 miles from home.
Nothing quite like hiking around to various auto parts stores looking for bearings, then changing them out in a McDonals Parking lot...

I just started playing around with seadoos last spring, every low budget Seadoo deal I have looked at last summer has "featured" dry rotted tires. I would plan to at least replace the tires and verify the bearings before heading north.

or, my solution to the problem was to simply move to florida!

Now my only problem is trying to beat Matt to the really good deals!

that was me, and yes, its a huge variable that must be considered, knowing how big of a pita it would be to fix a trailer on the roadside 900 miles from home. Its much easier on paper to plan this "project" than it is in reality.
