I have a 98 xp and ride it pretty hard and have flooded the engine a few times.

I remove plugs and turn engine over until majority of water is out - then heat plugs on a gas burner and put back and try start her.

Plugs get wet so i repeat procedure. I might go through 4 discharge / charges of the battery before she goes if it's a big swamping. (carbs under water)

Is there an easier way ? Is there a drain to easily get the water out the bottom of the crank ?

The suck / blow pipe off the crankcases to the fuel pump seems like a possible way of draining the crank but i don't know if it is located low down in the crank of not.

any comments would be appreciated

de-flooded many engines and i have found no easy wat to purge the water from the engine!
if you could turn her upside down maybe!!!!
and no, the pulse line to carbs does not sit low enough to suck water out, and it only goes to one cylinder
its important to get her running as soon as it sinks
to prevent rusting of internal engine componets
STOP SINKING THE POOR OLE GIRL:ack:
install a bilge pump to help out
mud

I think the 99 xp has an electric bilge pump but the 98 does not. You should add one, it will help.

Turning it upside down and cranking for 15 seconds this way with the plugs out works pretty well but not an easy task.

Thanks for that.

Yeah it's got a bilge pump and yeah the best idea is not to keep sinking her

Are you serious about the upside down technique ? Wouldn't the underside of the pisons just hold the water ?
