Hi all,

Did a complete engine, impeller, and pumps rebuild on my 96 GSX, just to realize SBT forgot to send me my new wear ring. I realize that I may be able to flip my old wear ring an re-use. Can someone clarify how I can pull a stock plastic wear ring without having to cut it?

Thank you!!

Most likely not. I think they locktite them in.

But honestly, i would suggest waiting for a new one. You will be pleased with the improved performance.

Can I temporarily use the old one over the weekend? I'm adding a new impeller. Its got some minor scratches inside the ring, but no major cuts.

Sure. Use the old one.

Worst case you will "peel out" on takeoff. Wont hurt the boat or engine.

You may even find that it runs just fine with the old ring and you can run it all season then swap during offseason.

Nope. Purpose of that ring is to wear out INSTEAD of the impeller. If there is any chunks sticking up and touching the impeller go ahead and file or cut them off. Or the impeller will do it for you. Wont hurt it one bit.

if it fits the pump corectly... you will destroy it getting it out. Also, they are not symmetrical. (they only fit one way)
