Alright! So my brother n law takes my GSX for a ride! From the campsite I see he has swam it up to the bank upside down, and flips the thing over, right side up! I haul a$$ to bank and immediately pull the seat! Water was up to the pipe! I immediately pull the drain plugs and release all the water from the hull! I pull the plugs and remove the water from the engine! Tried to fire it up , wouldn't crank! Got it home finally got it to run!

I've emptied the gas tank. I drained and refilled oil! Pulled the carbs, cleaned. New spark plugs! The thing runs like crap! Will not break 4000 rpm. 150 psi on both cylinders!

Any suggestions?

Electrical?

It looks like you have exhausted fuel delivery problems.

I think I would let it dry out real good. Open the electrical boxes, let them dry out, with a blow dryer, low or no heat. Take it to the lake see how she runs. Part of the problem is you might be kicking in the rev limiter at 4000rpm. Also you could pull the spark plug boots, cut 1/4" and reinstall boots.

It's a struggle to get it to 4000. When I hit the throttle it goes "bwuhhh". I'm kinda at a loss. I've cut the wires last year, can I cut another 1/4" off?

You can cut another 1/4" off as long as the wires have enough slack to make it to the plugs.

even though you pulled the plugs to get 'most' of the water out - it doesnt take much left in the engine to make it run like crap - whatever you do , get it running an dkeep it running to get the rest of the water out of the motor - it takes a while even though gas and oil were drained. water can still be in the lower half...
good luck

Not without removing the engine and splitting the case. I would just leave the ski running and it will eventually burn off. Taking it to the lake would be best, even if its not running right. Once the water has disapated it should run fine.

You might want to run some premix to be sure the engine is getting enough lubrication.

I converted to premix last year! I'm going through every fuel line! I removed the baffle and cleaned! Since my gas gauge doesn't work do I need to put the cork back in it?

Gas Float

I would buy the newer style float, doesn't have the corks, it's a one piece hollow float, much better than the original design.

I'm headed to the lake tomorrow! Anyone have other ideas!

I'm not sure that the ski was properly turned over! If that were the case, could I look at something else?

Keep running it and the premix is a great idea but switch the oiling back on later, it takes awhile to burn out the water ingestion, do it on the trailer if you have to, shorten the lanyard so it stops before taking so much water and let your brother in law learn to water ski, go back to get him once every hour when he falls over.
