I was doing some carb tuning at the river the other day. I noticed that if the flame arrestor was off, it would run a consistant 6880 rpm. When I put the arrestor back on, the max rpm went down to 6650. Should I leave it alone and let it run max rpm at 6650 or should I make adjustments? Im hitting 57 when the handle bars are turned slightly to the right. Digital says 62 but i watch the speedo constantly and NEVER saw it hit anywhere near the 60 mph mark. Ive never heard of a gtx limited hitting 62. Although I can prove it will do 57!

GTX limited will have a tough time hitting much higher than 57 on the water. Its big ! GSX can pull 62 yes.. but not a GTX.

other's might chime in on the flame arrestor issue .. is it jetted for stock FA ?

Yes everything is stock. The ski only has 78 hours on it now. Its running like a dream. I just replaced all fuel lines, rebuilt carbs, cleaned fuel selector, etc. I accidentally loosened the exhaust and it was he** to get everything back right after that! FINALLY got it though! Now it runs better than ever.
Im just wondering if the flame arrestor is an indication that I need to rejet. Should putting it on lower my rpm? Could I possibly drill holes in the flame arrestor to stop that issue? Just wondering if I should leave it alone and let it go.
I have about come to the conclusion if it isnt broke, dont fix it. with that being said, I said almost!

Make sure the element is clean. The engine will spit back, and the oil fuel/oil will eventually choke it.
