I built my 657x motor and carbs, just wondering before i start the Motor, is the anything that i have to do for the first start? i was told to have 16 ounces of oil for every gallon of gas,is this true?, do i have to prime oil at all?? i just want everything to go smooth and no problems, and i was told to work the motor in easy for the first 2/3 hours....ty for your advice, joe ( 95 sea doo speedster) other motor is fine.....

16oz of oil/gal????????? That's nutz !

First... let me ask... did you go to pre-mix, or are you still running the injection?

Regardless... no, you don't need to prim the system. If everything is right... the carbs will draw fuel in just a few seconds.

yes that I was told on the oil..told but. Haven't done it..and yes iam running the injection set up... Do I put oil in the full tank of gas to run threw the system? If so how much ?. Ty joe

Maybe you misunderstood the "tech"

At 40:1 ratio it comes to be 3.2 oz per gallon of gas. So now with 5 gal in the gas tank you would put in (5 X 3.2) = 16 oz.
this is for a tank of 5 gallons NOT per gallon.

On a fresh rebuild you may only need to do this on the first tank, since you have the oil injection still working.

Since it's a fresh engine... put 1 oz/gal in the main tank for break-in. That, along with the injection, will give you about 32:1 mix.
