the previous owner of my XP (the original owner, as I believe I am #3) drilled, tapped, and threaded a hose connection into each of the 2 cylinder domes, then added a T connector to push cooling water into the tops of the domes.

it's been like this since I got it, doesn't seem to cause any issues, but I was wondering if anyone else had done this, or seen it, or heard of it, etc.

I'd have to fill the holes or plug the lines or whatnot. I don't see how extra cooling could be bad, especially given how hard I ride... and the water temps in the area in summer...

I'll get a pic tonight for everyone, but wanted to know if anyone has seen this before

It's an old racing trick. When the cooling systems were marginal... we would double feed the engine. It was mostly a Kawi thing, but everyone was doing it. (in the 80's)

If it's not causing an issue... leave it alone. (I guess) BUT... if it was my ski... and the head was a stock shell... I would just plug the holes, and hook the water up the way is should be.

yea

the way it's hooked up, its an exit for water...

it appears that it would prevent air from getting stuck at the top of the domes.

I replaced the head w/another factory head that didn't have the plugs, and will remove the lines this weekend... when I pull the engine to do yet another rebuild :(

it did that lean run out, over heated, and even after a new head gasket (hoping to get through till the end of summer)... still only 110 on the rear cylinder... 150 on the front...

UGH! CAN'T FREAKING WIN.
