Exhaust interchange at all?

Anybody know if the exhaust pipes from different motors or model will change over (fit)?

The 650 and 717 pipes look almost identical?

I'm trying to find one for my 717 GTI 1996, just wondering what my options were.

I just picked up a used GTI 717, the previous owner has ran it "hot"
probably more than once. One water line has a hole in it, I'm sure that is
the reason for the overheat situation. However, the pipe coupling and the
exhast hose that connects the pipe to the water box are shot, almost melted
in a few places. The top of the pipe has been repaired a couple times with
JB weld too.

The dealers want more for the exhaust hose and coupler than most guys want
for an entire pipe and usually will include both those soft pieces, so I
figure just replace the whole exhaust, maybe spend $50-80 instead of $50
just on the new soft parts.
