Hello all,

I was wondering if I removed the exhaust system (tuned pipe, tuned pipe cone, manifold) could I re-use the gaskets/sealing ring between the parts if they do not look in obvious bad shape or should I replace them every time I take the system apart?

I assume I could re-use them, but I want to make sure. I would like to avoid buying new ones seeing that the gasket between the manifold and tuned pipe is $50 and the sealing ring between tuned pipe and pipe cone is $20.

Thanks.

nope... the gaskets will need to be replaced. the flat gasket between the pipe and the manifold will never reseal... and that can cause a bunch of performance issues, an could leak water back into the engine.

I'm not sure where you've gotten your prices from... but the manifold to pipe gasket should only be $6.

SeadooWarehouse.com, right through this web site and its listed at $49.49. I will check what Mosites Motorsports is selling them for. Where do you buy yours at?

What about the sealing ring between the tuned pipe and cone? The shop manual talks about the ring as if it is re-usable. I would just have to reapply a sealant on it?

I am going to be taking my carbs off, the fuel sending unit will be coming out, and will also be changing the fuel lines. I would love to have the extra room to work with if I remove the exhaust pipes.

Thanks.

I only go to Mosities when I need something quick. Their parts prices are crazy. They charged me $15 for an oil filter, where the going "On-line" price is about $8. Yes, you have to pay shipping... but I always try to order a hand full of things to make it worth it. Also, things like gaskets... I always try to keep exhaust, and intake gaskets for all my watercraft on the shelf. That way, I can order when prices are good, and I can do work when ever I want.

The site sponsor has good prices.

On the 800 engine, you can sometimes re-use the ring... but my advice it to not split the pipe. I've seen guys have sealing problems after... even with a new ring.

That is a good idea, I will try not to split the pipes.

I just checked SBT and the price for the gasket is $8.95.

BTW, it is the 951 engine that I am dealing with.
