Hello everybody I have a question about engine removal and installation.I have a 2000 GTX 787 RFI wich i am having SES rebuild the same engine that came out of the ski, when i removed it i marked the motor mounts and retained the shims that were installed from there original placement.I have read that I have to align the engine when installing and I need to purchase a see doo alignment tool,is this correct?I have a O.E.service manual coming off from ebay for some specs and guidence.Any real world help would be great.TIA

SLOGTX , just went thru that myself, used the rental tool from SBT. very nice tool, the one I got was brand-new. Very tempted to forgo the $75 refund and just keep it, but I bring home about one more thing I can't hold my hand, I gonna have to add on to the house, LOL.

My alignment was off a bunch, don't know why exactly, but putting the engine back as it was would have been a bad idea. Had to make some shims as well, didn't have nearly enough. Went from something like 0.012 at each front mount to 0.060 or 0.070 at the rear only, none in front. Used aluminum duct tape also for thin stuff.

To fine tune, I coated tool nose piece with grease and looked at the marks left by the flywheel:

Not that hard to do, the tool works very nicely. I put some light oil on the long shaft before putting it into the fixture.

There are many things you can simply bolt together and go. Engine alignment is not one of them. If it isn't right, it can get expensive fast.

I don't know what fits what. When I bought mine I bought every adaptor. With them the add said it would fits all Seadoo's. I've rented it 4 times and so far no issues.

Here's the tool, it fits virtually all Seadoo's, it has two adapter plates, your ski uses the larger adapter plate.

Don't want to go through another return, Lou Doo are you absolutely sure? The one I purchased said it fit all models too and looked simular. After trying it and questioning the results went all the way to the engineering department. They then admitted it would not fit models with 2 piece driveshafts.

Yep, I think you are absolutely right. Your ski may use a different alignment method, similar to a Yamaha. Actually much simpler.
