Hoping someone can help!

So I’m adding a Second battery to my boat through the use of Blue Sea Mini Add A Battery Plus system. I’m curious if anyone has added an extra battery before and if so did they transfer their house (Accessories) fuse box one to the second battery?

Batt 1 = starting
Batt 2 = house battery

Reason: if I’m sitting on the lake with boat turned off I’d be running on my house battery as the system would isolate the starting battery.

So question is leave accessories on start battery or move to house. If I should move, the best way.

Thanks

What did you end up doing? I would think to just add the extra accessories like the amps & any extra lights to the house (extra battery) & leave the rest on the starting battery. Seems like a few others on here have done this & perhaps they can weigh in.

Hey Briancayko

I ended up adding a second battery to run a 1600watt amp with 2- 8.5” speakers 2-6.5” speakers and a 10” sub the rest is still ran off the starting battery. I have hooked up bluesea mini add a battery plus system for charging systems upto 65amps. It’s a nice setup up as it isolates the starting battery when just sitting listening to music and when you start the boat it senses a charge and closes a relay and connects both batteries for charging. And if you don’t get them fully charged before docking the boat instead of having to take the batteries out you just plug an extension cord into the system for charging.

Nice, so you just replaced the stick battery tray with the green diamond plate & mounted it using the stock holes. Saw your post from the other thread. That’s a great idea. Ty

Which add a battery kit did you go with? I see they have a 65a and a 120a. Also what charger is that?

Hey DooGuy
The kit I went with for the 2010 seadoo speedster was the 65amp kit if I’m not mistaken it will charge when plugged in at 10 or 15 amps if you go to the bluesea site and look up 7655 you can find the manual there which has all the info

Sorry, another battery question. Currently have a blue top agm, am I ok with using a lead acid deep cycle using the blue seas kit? I know you’re not supposed to mix chemistries within banks, ie, if using 2 for starting or two for house etc. but being these are isolated thru the acr anyone running a similar setup?

Hey DooGuy,

You should be fine as I’m doing the same, this is a screen shot of the manual for the mini add a battery plus

This is essentially what I did on my 180 last spring. I even used the same battery as you. So far so good!

I isolated the starting battery and put all the accessories on the new house battery.

One more question, sorry. Been looking for the 7655 kit and have found a couple but really spendy, have no problem connecting my current charger, which I’m already used to, just have to connect to house battery vs start as indicated by blue sea. Question is if I go with just the si acr ( not the kit) do I really need to change the battery selector? I don’t really care about needing to combine as carry a jump start battery etc. so basically use the existing on/off factory selector add a battery and add an acr then move accessories to house. Hopefully that all makes sense. Trying to save on costs but do as close to right etc . Thanks in advance, Rick

I think the issue you will run into is that if you stick with the factory switch you will have no way of disabling one of the batteries from the system. The new switch has 4 posts versus the stock 2 posts.

Sorry, probably should have updated the last question. I ended up going with the blue seas switch. The larger one fit perfect to replace the Perko factory switch.

Hey Rick sorry for the very late reply but great to hear you went with the blue sea switch it’s what I would have recommended, as for my setup I’ve been running it hard this summer on the bay and in the lake and I haven’t had any issues with it at all!! The setup works great!! I did had a plug in on the side of the boat they connects directly to the blue sea mini add a battery plus which allows me to just plug into the side of the boat without having to lift the back cover and remove the tray!! I recommend that as well you can get them on amazon for cheap I think I got mine for 27 Canadian shipped. You can see it in this picture it was a marinco 15amp...here’s a before and after pic of the boat
