drive shaft rubber coming off

Hi, can anybody tell me if I need to replace my drive shaft or can I cut the rubber off

If you are referring to the coating, most simply remove it. I would suggest you spray your shaft down with something like WD-40 or other rust preventative after each run.

Thanks for the reply, most of the rubber has come off but I can't get the last bit off. Will it be OK or might it damage the seal and leak into the hull. The main reason is I seem to get a lot of water in the bilge,I have read that my model let's water in through the rear storage but there does seem to be a lot.
