Drive line parts question

I am in the middle of putting in new carbon seals on my 97 model speedster and have found some broken parts and missing parts.

I need to know if these are needed for the boat to function properly. :stupid:

The boat is missing Item #14 "Hull Insert" on both sides. and Item #19 "Shaft Protector" is broken half way down the shaft on both sides as well. :rant:

You do need the hull inserts but can leave off the shaft protectors. Most that have them, usually at some point will suck up a rope, then the shaft protectors crack and have to be removed or replaced. Usually, a rope gets sucked up while waiting for a skier or looping back around. This is generally under low rpm and noticed before the engine is binded (by most). So, my suggestion is to leave them off. Mine have personally been off for almost 8 years, ....no harm to my boat and I did suck the rope up again 2 years ago.:cheers:

find it tuf to believe, the 'hull instert" is missing...think its just imbedded in the glass, that yuo cant see..?

alright,...you need the insert, but not the sleeve/driveshaft protector...hit "parts" tab, top left of any page, and can order from there
