Draining oil in crank case

Has anyone ever used a vacuum pump to drain the oil out of the case or any other mechanical method. I'm replacing the tcw-3 rated oil with tc api rated oil. I'm also in the process of adding a second battery I should have it done this weekend. I'll try to post pics in the modify section.

Yup, I just did it to a Polaris the other day.

I used a pump to pull out most of the oil, then I pulled the hose off the pump to get out the last of it.

As I recall, Harbor Freight had one on sale for about $6.

I'm wondering, if I disconnect the oil line between the oil filter and the oil line going to the crankcase (CS), should that not suffice to expel a sufficient amount of oil from the CS to avoid a problem with mixing the new with the old??

I think you should drain the case, I'm guessing there's quite a bit of oil there in the crankcase that you shouldn't mix.

Is that a "legal" opinion proffered from the local JAG office, esquire?

If not, what grounds supports your position that I may have a lot of oil left in my engine?

I removed the oil line that connects to the oil filter, so, it is my opinion, a Shade Tree mechanic, that most of the oil would have flowed out.

Does my opinion carry any weight? If not, maybe tomorrow I will amend my paralegals job description to include learning how to expel all of the oil out of my engine!
