I see that most guys that add an audio system are adding second batteries.. the truth is that for the most part when im out in the water we are mostly just driving around.. we really dont stop for much unless we want to talk about something or whatever in which case the radio is turned off/down.. but anyway.. if i dont plan on sitting with engine off and music on do i still need a second battery.. i mean i know the audio system is more then what was on the boat but im just curious if guys are adding second batteries purely to be able to sti with teh radio on and engine off or if they do it because the system takes it toll on a single battery even if engine is running..

I used mine all last summer on 1 battery just fine. I added the 2nd one so I could sit anchored and just chill. It should be fine really. The alpine amps are digital and very efficient, they dont draw a lot compared to some others.

yea.. we dont anchor much.. i mean i might in the future but i mean most times if we stop its to b.s. or just relax but i have yet to anchor and shut the engine off while out.. but even if we did i wouldnt probably just turn the radio off to be able to talk or whatever.. i just like the music for cruising.. but in the future i will probably put 2 batts in.. just wanted to check for the time being if i would be good.. thanks for all the quick replies..

Grab one of those jump packs if you don't want to go the second battery route. That's all I did. Like you, we mostly play tunes while riding and rarely sit still long enough to worry about the battery dying. But if we did, I have the jump pack just in case.

I see alot of guys add a second battery that dont need to. Many could simply replace the stock battery with a higher capacity one.
