I was riding my Sea-Doo for the first time yesterday and when we got out, we noticed a large amount of water in the rear of the ski. As soon as I got home I looked up the issue and the carbon wear ring topic came up, however I don't want to spend money on something I don't know will fix the problem. I will leave a link to the video below

A wear ring is what your impeller spins inside, located inside the pump housing.

Let us know what kind of ski? Model?

Also make sure you know what the issue is first, water can come in from alot of areas, carbon boot your hand is touching is the most likely source but water lines, exhaust, cracks, shift cables, etc are also possible.

The kit is called "seadoo drive shaft carbon kit" or similar to that.

Your have to remove the pump housing on the back. Once removed, pull that carbon boot back (gear clamps x2 removed) and find that c clip on the drive shaft. Pop it off and replace.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks I meant to put carbon ring, the ski is a 2000 Sea-Doo GTI. I ran the hose through the inlet earlier today and there were no leaks, I am unsure if that resolves the water line query but I suppose it is best just to put it in.

No thats good, one less thing!
I would just buy the new kit then. Expecially if it looks bad or you havent done it before. I currently have a 98 seadoo gti.

You can verify by running it at the lake with seat off, the vibration will shake the carbon seal and your see water splash in.

Also, if it isnt leaking when shut off, that again points to that carbon seal. I had to replace my front grommets bc everytime my nose went under water came throught the front lol !
