The backs of my seats are white, and have what are becoming permanent stains on them. I cannot seem to find anything to clean them with.

Stains are mostly grease from working on engine and dirty hands, a couple bloody spots from busted knuckles, etc. It is bad and getting worse.

What can I use on the vinyl to get it clean and won't hurt the material?

I have bluejean stains on my seats from the previous owner. I bought Spray Nine (that's what the manual says to use for cleaning seats) and it removes almost every other stain (grease and other crap) but the ones from the bluejeans. I guess I will have to live with them.

Scott the seats were off white when I bought it. I used "Purple Stuff" available from auto zone and walmarts and they were white in about 15 minutes Spray it on being careful not to get it on the the decals and use a brush and scrub them clean...rinse it off and done. I then use F21 made by Turtle wax to seal and preserve them from the sun and uv. It's in a bright green bottle, again in either store. I use both cleaners on my 200 speedster too about once a month when I do a deep cleaning on the boat. My boat always looks showroom clean.

Nice. My seats are yellow where the stains are (see avatar) so I wonder if Purple Stuff is safe for that colour? I will check it out anyway.

I removed the remainder of the decals (there wasn't much left on the driver side) with a quick rubdown of lacquer thinner. So decals are no problem. But grease and blood...

I will try the bleach. I was trying to stay away from such a caustic chemical (heh! but I will use lacquer thinner, go figure!), since I try to clean my boat while it is ON the water. I guess I can bring it home one weekend and bleach the white portions down.

the green parts are clean and staying that way. Just the top of the white part where I lean over to work in the engine bay.

TuffStuff....specifically designed for vehicle upholstery....once used it on an ol' beater I had to impress a date....sprays out as a foam...let it sit for a few minutes and wipe off..no scrubbing or rinsing req'd....left nice clean seats...didn't help with the date

Cleaning seats

Try the Magic eraser.

I just got my Speedster and had some yellowing on the inside edge of one of the seats and read that is a Yahama jet boat forum just poking around for ideas and it worked. Rubs right out !

I used both laquer thinner and acetone with a brush when cleaning mine. You have to be extremely careful though.

I would apply with a brush and immediately wipe with a clean rag.

I have also found a product called color bond to refinish the vinyl (basically a paint) and it works as claimed. It doesnt crack and will make your seats look new.

Check it out: http://www.bryndana.com/

:agree: the magic eraser really does work great; and the store brand seems to work just as well as the national brand

Lots of good suggestions.

I will start with the cheapest ones first, and work my way up til I find one that works.
