Guys,

I'm going to look at some Challenger 180's and I read somewhere that the hour meters on them had a tendency to reset. One boat I'm going to look at has a claimed 16 hours. I trust the mechanical hour meter on my boat more than this digital one. Is this a real issue? has anyone here experienced this?

I'm torn between buying new and used. Since I'm looking for an SE with tower and Bimini MSRP is like $26,000. I can probably get used for $18,000-ish.

Looks like the new promotion is like $1700 off with 5 year warranty on the new one. Still I'm sure I'm looking at something like $23,000 and thats with the 215hp. Will the 255hp be a worthwhile upgrade. I mean, I was thrilled with the performance of the 310hp package in my Utopia205.

Does anyone have the C180 with 215 and wish they ponied up the money for the 255?

My sister in-law has the C180se with the tower and 215hp, and she absolutely loves it. She has two teenage boys and neither of them, or her have ever complained about the power the boat has.

I do know the older boats (06-07 for sure) had problems with the hour meter resetting, but they may have fixed it on the newer models. The BUDs system always keeps track of the proper hours though. If you are thinking of making an offer on a used boat, add a condition of inspection at the dealer including downloading all the history from the BUDs system.
