I know that 97 was the first year for the new model xp with the older motor so its slower and that 98+ is the years to buy, I found a nice 1999 XP LIMITED EDITION and would like to know what the difference between the limited and non limited are and the difference between the years, also, how much is a 1999 XP LIMITED with a new motor worth?

Around my area for a 98 and up xp on a trailer they start at around 3k and up I'm not to sure of the difference I don't think there is much except when they went direct injection witch I would stay away from

What year did direct injection start and is for all seadoos? And why would stay away? also is 01 RXDI a good ski and better than an XP?

The XPs that had the 951 were all called limiteds.

DIs started in 01 or 02 and they are good motors...when they run. When they dont it isnt usually easy or cheap to fix.

Don't all XPs have the 951 motors? Do all seadoos 01 and up have DI? What about that rdxi I was asking about, better than an XP?

the 1997 XP had the 787 engine
1998 - 2002 is the 951
2003 is the DI 951 (don't buy, it's bright red)

You want a 98-02. I paid $2,800 for a 2002 one with a rebuilt engine (that blew up on me) and a 2009 trailer.

03+ xp were DI motors. '01rxdi is a direct injection motor. Good as long as they run but harder to diagnose then a non DI motor if they don't

in 98-99 the 951 in the xp had water injestion problems, it was fixed by a rubber flap under warrenty on most. in 2000 they redesigned so water took a diffrent path around the hull and away from the hull vent during extream riding. the 951 limiteds had a better hole shot the 787 97-98 xp's but the 787's where 1-2 mph faster on top speed. so in closing if you want an a simi-perabulic hull get a 2000-2002. in 03-04 the xp was a di 951 and then seadoo discontiued the xp line. now if you want a really fun ride, get an x4 hull doo with the 787, which are the 96 xp, or the 97-99 spx. the are much easier and cheeper to maintain, easier to spin around on and best of all cheeper to buy lol

Whats the difference between XP and SPX besides the looks, what do you mean the 951 LIMITED had a better hole shot, whats semi-perabulic? Whats X4 hull? I really like the 97+ XP bodystyle is why im set of those. This 99 has a new motor from SBT so dont you think is most likely has the new flap? Sorry for some of these dumb question but im super new to PWC, Ive been riding snowmobiles for over 15 yrs.

Whats the difference between XP and SPX besides the looks: nothing the spx was pretty much the previous years xp with diffrent colors. untill 98-99 when they keep the x4 hull design.

, what do you mean the 951 LIMITED had a better hole shot. 951's have more torque than the 787's thus better hole shot (acceleration)

, whats semi-perabulic? Whats X4 hull? hull designs, the x4 was made by a combination of brp and another compeny who's name i can't remember. it was designed for tight cornoring and course racing. very light and very nimble it is still one of the most fun rides you can get. some people say it is as close to a stand up as you can get without standing up lol. semi-perabulic is the 97-04 xp hull type. it was ment to attempt be less aggresive than the x4 but still be nimble and easy to spin around on.

don't worry a year ago i was in your shoes. i knew the motor in my first ski ( 97 gts) ran that was it lol. i know so much about xp's was because after runing a 3 seeter for a year to learn( which i recomend) i want something i could throw around easier. i rode a 2000 xp and then a 96 xp. sure the hole shot on the 00 was better but after taking into concideration the fact i'm a broke collage student, the 96 was the better choice for me. i found a non-running 96 xp and a 93 sxp(running) for $1200 on a double trailer. i just got them out this past weekend and the xp is a fun ride. wore me out and slung me off into the freezing water twice but great fun. so aside from my rambling get what you can afford and get a deal on.

i hope i actully answered some of your qestions without creating too many new ones:willy_nilly:

they are both rated as two seaters but, they are more like 1 seaters. if there is more than 250 lbs on them they get very "tippsy". the "semi" hull is more stable than the x4, but not by much. i would say about 275 lbs on it before you get tippy.

96-97 gtx 787 (3 seater pretty fast and very stable) 98-2000 gtx ltd (if you got your heart set on a 951) or 96-98 gsx 787 carbed ( 2 seater i have never rode one but it was suposed to mix sport and stablity) 98-2001? gsx ltd for a 951 model. 951's in most cases have better proformace than a 787. but require more maintenance and are harder to work on.
