DI Single Cylinder Idle?

I am continuing to fight some issues on my 2000 GTX DI rebuild. I have a CanDoo and have been experimenting with the single cylinder activation. At idle, PTO deactivation makes the motor quiet slightly and it sounds very smooth. When I deactivate the MAG, it shuts off. It will also start and run with only the MAG spark plug wire connected. It will not start with PTO connected only. At higher RPM's, deactivating the MAG is possible and the motor continues running.

I have read mixed messages about whether the DI idles on one cylinder only. Can someone with a working DI, ideally a 2000 GTX, do a quick check and confirm? Perhaps I am chasing a "problem" that does not exist.

Correct. Some SeaDoo's deactivate a cylinder at idle.

Said another way, should a DI ski start up and idle with only the PTO spark plug wire connected? Mine will not.

Good question. I have heard both yes and no. I always thought that they did but it was random as to which cylinder it was, but I really don’t know.

Thinking about doing some experimenting with one of my skis.

I was working on a 2003 RX DI yesterday and forgot all about this thread but in the process of troubleshooting... I started and ran the ski on both front and rear cylinders individually with the spark plug wires disconnected. I noted no noticable difference.
