My 06 GTI STD has been running great, only thing is that if my key isn't in the exact right spot, then I am getting the beep every 5 minutes. Called my local Seadoo Service Center and they want to charge me $90 to even look at it to tell me if it is the key or the post. Have any of you experienced this issue in the past? Based on what I have found online I can buy a new post and key for right around $90 then just pay them to program it for $44.75. Do you know anywhere that I could order a post and key already programmed or is that not even a thing?

Thanks in advance.

(I edited your topic line so that others can find it easier if doing a search for DESS, Coastiejoe).

You do not need a new key if you have a DESS issue. But,, you can buy both from Minnetonka4me and he can program the key as well, (you would need to send him your MPEM).

Coastiejoe are you saying that it is just the post that needs replaced?

No,,, I was saying that IF,,, you replace the DESS you do not need the key.. The key is programed to the MPEN, not the DESS.

It is common for the rubber to loose its "snugness" and allow the key to tilt and what not. It can cause a "shut off" situation. If you want to test the lanyard, just wrap some black tape around it to make it fit tighter and then go for a run.

The DESS is testable as well. If you need the info let me/us know..

I would like to know how to test the DESS, please. Is it just testing continuity? Also, can't seem to find part # for mine (2012 gti se 130). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to make the trip down to St. Marys, I have both new posts and new keys and BUDS to program as well. I'm guessing new key would fix it and can program that in 5 minutes and then test. If you buy post or key from me, I program for free. You can test ride here, I'm right on the lake. The keys are programmed to the ECU on the 4tecs, and programmed to the MPEM on the 2 strokes. Keys can't be preprogrammed, they need to be programmed to your specific ECU.
