Can anyone tell me how I can go about putting in a regular kill switch in my 96 XP like the one on my 95 HX?

The 95 has a modular system the 96 has a mpem, with a DESS( Digital Electronic Security System), not a plain lanyard.

Why would the guys at First Coast Honda tell me that you can bi-pass the security system?

Because they are idiots.

If you have a 720 engine, or smaller, there are ways to make it run without the computer, but your 96 xp has an 800 engine in it. That engine's CDI has to have a digital "Hand shake" with the MPEM to run.

you also have to look that their are probably honda people and you can probably hotwire a honda that way. but seadoo with the 800 its not gonna happen.

Actually, you can bypass the DESS system if you remap the MPEM, there are some racers that do this when they reprogram the MPEM for racing. Not an easy thing to do and you have to be very skilled and have the equipment, BUDS can't even do it.

So, for all intensive purposes, you can't bypass the DESS system.
