Hello. I winterized my jet boat like always, but for some reason both cylinder heads have cracks from freezing in them. the engine runs fine, but water pours out from both cylinders. I can feel a crack in the PTO cylinder. Obviously l need some major work, but the question is this... how much work? I was poking around and found a top end rebuild kit for about $500 on Ebay. A remanufactured engine is about $900. I have no idea how to pull an engine on this boat and honestly no one around here (NW Indiana) works on 20 year old PWCs. would it be possible for a not too great shade tree mechanic to just replace the cylinders without boring or machining anything? or is it silly to just do half the job and instead just replace the engine. The compression was 150 or so on both cylinders last fall.
any advice is appreciated.
