The last couple of times I went out riding my coolant reservoir would be empty at the end of the day.
Inside the hull would be dry. No oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Read several posts on coolant loss, one being a leaking head gasket when the engine warms up. (Worse fears)
Decided to dive into this and diagnose the problem. Here’s what I found:
Pressure tested cap - good.
Pressure tested coolant system - fail.
Could hear a leak when I pressurized the system. Turns out it was the reservoir. The two piece bottle was starting to separate at the seam.
.
.
As you can see in the pics coolant residue on top of the bottle as well as residue streaks going down the hose. The obvious seam separation.
I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but it is something to be aware of if you experience coolant loss on this type bottle. Hope this helps someone.
