Brought home from dealer where my 09' GTI 130 was winterized/stored/spring tuneup. Went to ride it yesterday and noticed the coolant bottle was filled above max line and some coolant in the bottom of the engine hull. Plan on just taking some out but am curious why they would fill it this much. Anyone have similar experience?

Has your coolant level in the bottle ever dropped? Mine did, and the dealer put alot in the bottle. Then I found why. Water pumps on 4 sec engines are like a cars, with a weep hole. If anything leaks out the weep hole, you have a bad water pump seal. It tells you there's a leak before you lose all the coolant at once and overheat so you can fix it. I think this is a way dealers cover up the problem so 1. They won't have to deal with it under warranty. 2. Just cover it up in general.
