Here in Minnesota our season is short. The water and temps don't get comfortable till mid-June.
I am looking into a wet or dry suit and need advice on which is better.
And places to buy.

We are thinking of some river runs that would involve stopping at a dock and eating at a local restaurant or casino. Can you wear clothes under these?

PS, it's 15 below out now...

No, you can't wear clothes under a wet suit. The name is exactly what it does. It makes you wet.

A wet suit is a thermal layer, like a second skin. What happens is, the water trapped between you and the suit warms by your body heat. Then that heat is maintained by the insulation of the suit. These things are skin tight, like a pair of doctors surgical gloves.

They do make "dry" suits. But, I don't think you can wear clothes under them. Your best bet would be to bring some clothes with you in your storage compartment. When you get to your destination, you could just slip them on over your wet suit. I'd choose something easy to slip in and out of.
