2003 gtx 4tec cluster.
Took mine apart, removed the old lcd film and about to install a new film but I have no way to know which way it needs to go without powering it up.

Looking at wiring I need constant power on pins 7 and 8 but I'm not sure how to power it up. There are two more wires that I'm assuming are the can bus wires and the rest go to sensors...
I dont have the machine nearby to try with so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something simple.

Thanks.

It won't power up on just power, in fact power is there all the time, it wakes up when the ECU tells it to.. 2 options I can think of, plug it in to verify your orientation or use polarized sun glasses. If you wear polarized sun glasses and look at an LCD display sideways, it blacks out, look at it normal and your glasses don't effect it. The polarizer screen is the same. If you put in on one way, it will be pure black looking trough glasses, turn it 90 degrees and it will be see through. You want see through!

Thanks I have no idea of the orientation of the film I'm getting yet. It's for a tablet so should work.

there's an up down and a side to side, that's it. All the same. differences are how much polarizing metal, stick or not, how thick and angle it starts to cut out. Same rule applies to checking to see if glasses are polarized, put 2 together with one turned sideways, if they're polarized it will go black, if they're not you'll still see through them
