Hi all just bought a 1995 seadoo bombardier spx it was running great took it out twice with no problems, then the other day went to crank it to make sure everything was still good and it wouldn't start. I keep hearing a click at the starter solenoid. I thought it was the battery so went and had that checked. Battery was good so I did the jump test on the solenoid got no spark and no crank. Checked all wires and grounds everything is fine. Any advice I'm thinking it is the starter but don't want to pull it out if I don't have to. Can a starter go bad like that ? If anyone can suggest things to try in all ears. Thanks!

Well... if the battery checks... and you jumped the solenoid... it's the starter.

BUT... if you have a good factory (OEM) starter... then just get a rebuild kit for it. It will be less than $30, and a rebuilt OEM starter is 100X better than the "Import" crap. Even a eBay used OEM is better.

Try turning the pto wheel see if it spins, i had the same symptoms and my engine was seized

I got the drive shaft to move manually so the engine isn't seized so am I looking at a bad starter or solenoid?

Check the actual START button. I replaced one on my 1997 gsi. As well as the solenoid and starter, at different times.

try cranking with spark plugs out justs for sh, I mean, laughs and giggles. and might as well jump the solenoid with spark plugs out also while you're there.
