So I have a set of 94 XP's and i recently cleaned out the carburators on both of them. I changed out the grey fuel lines as well. Took them out today and put the first one in the water, after putting in new plugs. Started right up even better then when I bought them 5 yrs ago. Took off idling for about 1-2min then i opened it up about 1/2 throttle and still running wonderfully was getting all excited so after about another 3-4min of running 1/2 throttle I went WOT for about 50yds then just kept bogging down, would feel like it wanted to go faster but would just bog down. I road it around a good 10min just trying to see if anything cleared up as I hadnt used them since 1 yr ago. After riding for about 20min with it bogging and going bogging and going i started back to see if maybe the other one worked any better. As I got closer to the shore I noticed that when it bogged down if i gave it more gas it would die. Starting after would start right up but kinda sputtering like it was flooded. Soon after it would pretty much just start to die if i gave it gas, but sometimes if i slowly increased throttle it would start going but then bog down after about 20-30yds, put it back on the trailer took plugs out and they were black around the rim and cardboard color on tip of curved thing on tip. Anyways on to the next one. Put it in the water let it warm up a min or two then took it out half throttle was doing great then started to open it up went about 100yds then same thing bogging down. This one however would go a little longer before it started to bog down. For a while it would run really good from idle to about 3/4 throttle and if if stayed at 3/4 it would keep going for a while then bog down almost as if fuel starved. Kept riding it around for a while hoping something would change. Finally noticed that when i went WOT the ski would go for about 5-6 seconds like it was brand new then would almost cut out/bog down more of cutting out for about 2-3 seconds then it would go again. I did this for about 30-45min just hoping something would change. Well finally disappointed went to put them up and remembered something about changing the fuel selector to res, so while it was on the trailer on turned the second one on to res and ran it on the trailer in the water while it was tied down. Well at WOT it went until i slowed it down with no hesitation, so then i put it on reg and it rev'd up for about 10 at WOT then bogged down so took it out on the water and bamm!! ran great that was my prob was just not getting gas in the reg mode but changed to res and it ran like a champ. So then I went back and tried same technique on the trailer with the first one and it kinda did the same thing but not quite. On res it would rev up for about 10secs then bog down. Took it for a spin and took off WOT and it went for about 30yds then bogged down almost died on me started to turn around and it died. Tried to start it and it wouldnt start. Pulled the choke and it started but felt like it wanted to die gave it gas and it died. Started up again and slowly gave it just enough gas to move a little and went back to trailer and put it up and came home.

Im stumped because the seadoos are identical 94 xp's bought at the same time both never have had any kinds of problems at all until last yr when i took them out once to see if they were still ok and they both started bogging down at the same time so i figured it was bad gas, changed it and same thing. Figured I needed to redo the carbs so I did and took them out and this is what happened. I redid the carbs last yr on the first one that bogged down and never changed with res or reg. Also redid the fuel lines on that one. The second one that ended up running great after putting in res I cleaned out the carbs yesterday and no new fuel lines. Which I intend to do just autozone was out of fuel line.

Things to consider are the fuel in the seadoo's is from last summer. I know I know, needs new fuel, however what exactly does old fuel make the ski do, bog down, not start?? Was put away with stabilizer so thats why I went ahead and ran them plus tanks were almost full. Second the carbs were not rebuilt I just took them apart and cleaned them out. Little filter in carbs where horrible blk crud almost completely full. Anyways Im stumped.

I know I need new fuel but why did one run awesome on res with old fuel and the other didnt change a bit changing fuel setting. Just boggs down regardless. Let me know what you guys think. Oh also seadoo that does run good has a slight hesitation on take off but once it opens up it runs great. just from idle to take off it hesitates.

Your selector valves are clogged:
Replace the fuel selector valves. $29.49 each in the parts section (upper right hand icon)

#6 part
The crap that clogged your carbs also clogged your fuel selector valve.

Clean or replace the fuel filter/water seperator. Use a tiny bit of vasoline on the O ring to insure a good seal.

When you cleaned the carbs, did you clean or replace the small internal filters?
