Changing Oil Brands 96 XP

Got a question guys. I've been running the oil that was left in my xp when I bought it and I have no idea what is in it. Its kinda a greenish blue color. Anyways i'm changing to amsoil interceptor. Now i've got the tank drained, a new filter, and i'm going to install new injector lines. I should I drain the rotary valve cavity also? If so whats the best way to get the oil out? I have both lines pulled off the oil tank and I was thinking of using a air compressor and putting a little pressure in the carb side line to push it out the other side and into a cup. Is this o.k? I don't really want to run the risk of messing up my crank seals.

i used a oil exchange pump or a fluid excavator pump found at autozone.... hope this helps

you may waste some oil, but what i would do is take line off side opposite the carbs, put a hose on it and stick into a jug, then take a line on a plastic type transmission funnel, and put a quart in and let it flush it out other side, no air, just gavity, make a mess,

Griz that worked perfect except I filled the tank up all the way with all the lines connected and the new filter. I bled the pump and then I pulled the return line off the top of the tank for the rotary valve. Then put a cottage cheese container in the bottom of the hull and put the return line in it. The oil started flowing and I let it flow for around 15 to 20 secs until almost all the green color was gone and it started looking clear like the amsoil.

I drained the old oil out of the tank by pulling the "in" line off the filter and dumped it in the cottage cheese container until it was all out.

I've changed oil brands before and honestly never thought about the oil in the rotary valve cavity, besides Amsoil, which I use claims to be compatible will all oils, so I guess what I'm saying is don't sweat the small stuff.

Im with Lou on this one. I switched from XPS to quicksilver with no problems. I just let the tank get s low as possible then made the switch. As long as you are using oil meeting the same specs and sticking with all full synthetic i don't see an issue with mixing brands. At least in my situation, it was no big deal.

I hear ya Lou. I have a problem with sweating the the small things when it comes to some things. I emptied the tank, changed the filter, injection lines, poured a cap full of oil in each carb, flushed the rotary cavitiy, fired it up and held the oil pump wide open to fill the new injection lines. If that ain't good enough I don't know what is.
