The starboard engine on my 96 speedster will have OK thrust at low RPM but as soon as it reaches 3500 the system seems to cavitate and loses thrust and just revs..I have taken it in for service and they said the wear ring was fine and checked to make sure the spline and the shaft were good..all checks out but still no push..it's like it is drawing in air somehow but I have checked the boot clamps etc...........it is getting more difficult to get on plane..the port engine is doing 80+ % of the work..after onplane it seems normal

And this is why I hate most mechanics.

It's an easy solution. Your carbon seal needs replaced. (along with it's support parts)

Change the boot, the carbon seal, the stainless ring, the 2 O-rings in it, and the C-clip... and your issues will go away.

Agree with the Honda on this one. I chased the same issue around before replacing the carbon seals. I wish I had done the expensive parts first! They make a huge difference
