Cavitation Issues

I have the pump off my '97 GS, thinking I was going to find quite a bit of damage to my wear ring and/or impeller. Instead, I have major damage to a couple of the "fins" that are part of the housing. The 2 that have the most damage are consecutive, so I'm guessing that is causing the cavitation problem. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm not sure if this causes cavitation, but I'm thinking if it does, then having 2 damaged fins right next to each other is causing a greater "void," and therefore more noticeable than if I had 2 that were damaged, but were on opposite sides of the housing. Anyone? Thanks.

The broken stator fins shouldn't be a source of cavitation... but if they are next to each other... the bearing may not be very stable.

Depending on how bad the cavitation is... I would be looking for an air leak. (most likely around the carbon seal)
