2000 GTX Sea Doo - Was out on the water doing dounuts with rider on back. Afterwards bogging down - overheating - will not go more than 10MPH. Plastic shooting out of jet area. Wear Ring??? or could this be some other problem??? Please help, not very mechanically inclined.

Check Prop / Wear ring clearence

Sounds like you may of picked up some debris through your prop. With the sea out of the water take a flashlite and shine it the prop area. First see if there is some pieces of the wear ring are chewed away and if there is not see if you have a equal distance of about 1/16 inch all away around the prop to the wear ring surface. if you find there is some of your wear ring gone do not start the sea as this will put unwanted pressure on your jet pump bearing. Even if the prop is rubbing a bit on the surface this will put extra strain on the motor and it will overheat pretty quick dependinding on how much restistance it is taking to turn the motor.

Also, if parts of the wear ring or the debris you sucked up are clogging the venturi that would explain the overheating problem since no water is cooling you down...
good luck

it is easy to pull the nozzle and pump off to check/change the ring and look in the venturi openings -

Pump Assembly

I was told that I need a new pump assembly. Wondering if I can buy the complete unit or if I have to buy part by part. I need an Impeller Housing Assembly - Impeller Assembly - plus all the other parts. Any idea if I can pick up the whole assembly new or rebuilt - or again if I have to buy part by part like I was told by one parts dealer.

cavitation - Wear Ring - Propulsion System

Well, I thought I was only going to have to replace the wear ring, seal and few other parts. I was told that I need to replace the Impeller Housing Assembly - Impeller Assembly and multiple other parts. I was wondering if I could purchase the whole assembly - new or rebuilt - or if I have to replace each individual part and assemble myself???

Any suggestions???

I posted in yuor other thread, but now that I read this one it makes more sense.

Look at part 7 on this blow up. That is what houses the impeller. I am guessing the veins in the pump have been damaged. They are the fin looking things inside the rear hole. Probably have been broken by sticks, rocks or other debris. They are probably coming out around the impeller.

Find a used pump on here or ebay and swap it out. Easy fix.
