my '01 GTX DI cavitates for about 3-5 seconds during take off. once it planes out absolutely no problem. It doesn't seem to matter if i slowly apply throttle or give it all she's got. It idles fine. At take off i will give it full throttle, RPM's read over 6000 but it sputters for a bit and then it takes off. I just had the full jet pump replaced at the local marina, not sure if they forgot something? Any suggestions would be great.
it's the carbon seal. To do a quick test... pull it back and put a blob of grease on the face of the seal. It will seal it up for a day before the grease washes away.
If that helps... buy a new seal, and replace it, and all of it's supporting parts.
Would they not have put a new carbon ring on when they replaced all of the jet pump components? I do have a new wear ring I know, because they gave me my old one back.

Probably not. It is not in the pump... it's in the hull. It would make sense to change it while the pump is out... but unless you told them to do it... they wouldn't have.
Thanks Tony, I have to drop it off on Monday, i will double check with them. Looking at the parts breakdown, none of the descriptions say "carbon ring". would it just be called "ring"?
